"Rejoicing" is an album by the guitarist Pat Metheny that was released in 1984 by ECM. It features the guitarist in a trio with Charlie Haden on bass and Billy Higgins on drums, both of whom played and recorded with Ornette Coleman in the late 1950s and early 1960s. In addition to his own compositions, Metheny plays three compositions by Coleman, and Horace Silver's Lonely Woman (not to be confused with the Coleman composition of the same title, which Metheny does not play on the album).

Renowned pianist Pierre-Laurent Aimard’s recording of Olivier Messiaen’s Catalogue d’Oiseaux created a sensation when first released on PENTATONE in 2018, and now returns to the market in an attractively-priced stereo re-issue. Aimard had intimate ties to the composer himself and his wife, Yvonne Loriod, for whom Messiaen wrote the Catalogue, a grand hymn to nature from a man who never ceased to marvel at the stupefying beauty of landscapes or the magic of bird song. With his Catalogue, Messiaen tried – in his own words – “to render exactly the typical birdsong of a region, surrounded by its neighbours from the same habitat, as well as the form of song at different hours of the day and night,” suggesting an almost scientific approach to his subjects.

Following the series devoted to Korngold's string quartets, here is the first instalment in a new project by Alma Quartet and Challenge Classics. In five CDs the Alma Quartet will bring out the late string quartet output by Beethoven and Shostakovich. Each volume will couple a late quartet by the two composers, who shared a "late style" on this medium.

The Czech Philharmonic is renowned for its interpretations of Gustav Mahler’s Symphony No. 9 in D Major, notably under conductors Karel Ančerl (a "searingly intense" classic recording) and Václav Neumann. More recently, Semyon Bychkov conducted the orchestra in 2019.

Symphony No. 6 in A minor (1903–04) stands as a tragic case in point.

The Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra and conductor Kirill Karabits, joined by an outstanding cast led by Corinne Winters, present the world premiere recording of Thomas de Hartmann’s lost opera Esther. Often written by candlelight during the Nazi occupation of Paris, Esther was composed as de Hartmann—a non-Jewish Ukrainian expatriate—lived through the unfolding horrors of the Holocaust. He perceived profound parallels between those events and the Biblical story of Esther as dramatized in Jean Racine’s play, from whose text he adapted the libretto. Esther is perhaps the only major musical work composed contemporaneously as a direct artistic response to the Holocaust.

Gobi Canticle brings together eleven works for solo violin, violin and viola, and violin duo by ten composers of Asian heritage, many presented here in first recordings.

In 2023 Bill met musician and businessman Frederic Schwarcz who arranged two shows in Paris at the New Morning Club. Here he met and worked with with Jean Luc Leonardon, producer, arranger, keyboardist, singer and also leader of the band Dr Wu. With an assembly of celebrated Parisian musicians, full rhythm and horn sections and an array of talented soloists and singers, the night was magical. And in the months to come an album was created in Paris that rivals the best of LaBounty’s work. During his visit to Paris in January 2025 to record his album , Bill laBounty had the pleasure of meeting Natasha St-Pier , with whom he performed a duet of his iconing track "Livin it up". Executively produced by Frederic Schwarcz, co-produced by Jean Luc Leonardon, horns arranged and orchestrated by Erick Poirier, engineered and mastered by Yves Jaget, Bill’s new album “Love At the End of the World” makes it’s debut in the spring.

On March 6, 2026, German-British artist Christin Nichols will release her new and third album. It is named after her, “Christin Nichols,” and is the essence of everything this woman is and always has been about. Christin Nichols will be going on tour with the new album in April 2026. The advance single “Cheerleader” – an anthem about self-love – is being released today.

For their second full-length album, Under My Umbrella, Miss Grit has lifted the lid on their internal world, lasering in on the anxieties and heartbreak of the past two years, following their acclaimed debut Follow the Cyborg.

Sincretismo is a project involving the commission, creation, and production of new works for oboe and ensembles, framed within a contemporary musical aesthetic inspired by traditional Venezuelan music. Beyond the aim of returning to the oboe some of its popular connotation – which it has almost entirely lost over the past four centuries – this project seeks, above all, to bring classical music audiences around the world closer to the vast universe of Venezuelan culture and traditional music. At the same time, the project represents a commitment to enriching, renewing, and innovating the oboe repertoire as a solo instrument, and, in a more pedagogical dimension, making it accessible to future generations of academic oboists.

In the mid 80’s Heavy Gentlemen were one of Norway’s leading live bands. Their members were from the elite of Norway’s rock, funk and blues musicians, and together they presented a funky and potent mix.
