is an American comic book series written by Mark Waid, with artwork by Peter Krause and published by Boom! Studios. The series began publication in April 2009. Irredeemable is author Mark Waid's third and "most complex" story concerning the "cost of superheroics" or the "path of villainy". His two previous stories, and concerned the "ethical price of heroism" and the ultimate failure of superheroes, respectively; but Irredeemable is "about how the lessons we learn about right and wrong as children can become warped and twisted when challenged by the realities of the adult world." It's a "Twilight of the Superheroes"-style story revolving around the premise of "how a man goes from being the world’s greatest superhero to its greatest supervillain." Its subject: The Plutonian, a Superman-level supervillain who was formerly the world's greatest superhero.
Casualties are in the millions. Panic has swept through the world. And the Paradigm have learned that in order to stop Plutonian they may have to embrace history's deadliest criminal. Can Plutonian's nemesis, the super criminal Modeus, be trusted in the face of Armageddon? Covers by Gene Ha and Dan Panosian. --
