This book is intended for theoretically minded engineers, and practically oriented mathematicians and scientists who want to understand how to develop and use computer models of petroleum reservoirs. This is not a numerical analysis book. The book should be suitable for short courses designed for practising engineers and for self study.



This book contains a relatively complete treatment of finite-difference models of black-oil type reservoirs, but does not include such topics as simulation of thermal recovery processes, chemical flooding, miscible displacement, and the use of variational methods in simulation.
