Birri - Ten Years (2019) [Official Digital Download]

Birri is songwriter and singer Brita Skare Malvik, who today calls Lofoten home. She grew up an avid listener to vintage rock 'n' roll among wild mountains and beautiful fjords in Northwest Norway, and here she found both the song and the pen. Today, the inspiration from the 60s and 70s can clearly be heard in BIRRI's songwriting, and her music has a retro feel combined with a more modern expression and an exciting soundscape, signed producer Are B. Simonsen (Store Studio, Bodø).

In May she released her debut single "Ten Years", for good response. It was quickly picked up different playlists on Spotify and TIDAL, and was played on both RadioSignal (Fresh tracks) and NRK P13 (Kåbbåi). The single also harvested dice roll 6 in Lofotposten, under the heading "Glitterende good americana".

With the second single "Longest Wait", released August 30, BIRRI is moving from americana and more to the rock. In an energetic take recorded live in studio with her regular band, BIRRI's dynamic vocals and piano tell an engaging story about the challenges of distance.

Birri is an exciting artist who plays with elements from rock, country, blues and soul. She balances comfortably between genres and has, over the past year, captivated audiences on several club and festival scenes with her raw vocals and her strong lyrics and life considerations. BIRRI is now working on the release of its debut album, due out in October.
