Elaine Freeman - La speranza (2020) [Official Digital Download]

During the last 17 years, Elaine Freeman has worked tirelessly on the board of the Rancho Simi Recreation and Parks District. Actually, that is only her most recent service in our city and only one of the many boards and agencies where she has represented Simi Valley. She is now running for another term on the board and I wholeheartedly recommend her reelection.

In her many years of service, there have been many things accomplished at RSRPD and I mention only a few to remind people of those they may have forgotten: Challenger fields for challenged youth; conversion of Knolls fire station to a needed community center; the Oak Park community center; reconstruction of the duck pond at Rancho Simi; Runkle Canyon Park; 364-acres of land in Alamos Canyon; splash pads in Simi and Oak Park; moving the last colony house to Strathearn Park; skate plaza BMX; and dog parks.

Recently, she took the lead in creating a new headquarters on Guardian Way, which involved selling the old HQ for $20 million and developing the new one with modifications for about $14 million. Best of all, the final transaction left the district debt-free and with a balanced budget.

The guidance, experience and leadership she has provided for Rancho Simi RPD deserves to be appreciated by reelecting this fine woman—who never asks for anything for herself—to continue to represent us.
