For "Grace" Rachel selects songs by U2, Nirvana, Kate Bush, Björk and John Lennon and mixes them with her own compositions. Thus, the ten tracks of the album combine with simple arrangements and universal themes around love, pain and growth. The simplicity of a trio consisting of Rachel's piano, the characteristic drum/percussion set of her longtime collaborator Bobbie Rae and Chris J. Luard on bass, recorded with Chesky's well-known minimalist microphone technique, creates an extremely intimate atmosphere for such expressive material.

"Rachel Z., a very talented jazz pianist, has always been interested in contemporary pop and rock music. 'Grace' is a little surprise, because in addition to her piano playing in the trio, Rachel sings on most of the pieces. Her voice is expressive, but rather average and does not reach the level of her piano playing. Apparently, she felt the need to express herself vocally and interpreted her own lyrics, as well as songs by U2, Kurt Cobain, Kate Bush, Björk and John Lennon (a creepy version of "Imagine"). Listeners who are mainly interested in Rachel's jazz works will still find the majority of 'Grace' interesting, as there are many piano solos and a good, close interaction of the trio, even if this is not absolutely necessary.
