Arms and Artillery Equipment and Warfare of the 20th Century and Beyond
    Darlington Publications | 1998 | ISSN: 10839577 | 30 pgs. | PDF | 41MB

    CONTENTS:
M113A1 FIRE SUPPORT VEHICLE, by Paul Handel. (Australian Army use of US M113 armored personnel carrier with a rotating turret and 76mm gun. Details of development, and operational use in Vietnam with the 3rd Cavalry Regiment. One of these FSVs was transferred to New Zealand and, modified, later served as an ambulance in Bosnia.)
C3I - Numerous notes from current AFV developments: Ukrainian T-80UD, Stealth Warrior, US Wolverine assault bridge, etc.
NOTES ON US ARMOR MARKINGS, INFANTRY TANKS 1920-1940, by Charles Lemons. (Excellent article by the curator of the Patton Museum at Ft Knox. It is often easy to identify these tanks, since they had unit designations painted on, e.g. "40th Tank Company". Also includes very good information on overall paint schemes. Touches on National Guard units, too.)
THE 251 CALLIOPE; THE FACTS BEHIND AN UNUSUAL VEHICLE, by Michael Eastes. (743rd Tank Battalion mounts rocket launchers onto German halftracks. Based on veteran's testimony. Photos.)
THE WORLD'S BEST TANKS,by Gregory Fetter. ("Let the controversy begin!" Number 1 is the Leopard 2A5, barely beating out the US M1A2 based on proven components, but the M1A2 does have bettern vehicle communications. Hardly inferior are the Japanese Type 90 and French Leclerc. Then comes the British Challenger 2 with its poorly designed turret and fire control problems, but it does just beat out the Russian Black Eagle (modernized T.80U). Trailing are the T.90, Korean Type 88, T.72, and in tenth place - Merkava Mark III (due to its inferior characteristics when outside its unique geopolitical and doctrinal situation). But as the author states, in combat it will be training, not equipment, that decides the battle.)
AN/MLQ-34 TACTICAL JAMMER, GULF WAR TESTED!, by Adam Geibel. (Electronic jamming vehicle on display at Tobyhanna Army Depot, used by the 501st
Military Intelligence Battalion in the war.)
MARTYR'S MEMORIAL; JORDAN'S TRIBUTE TO ITS MILITARY, by Jeff McKaughan. (Report from this Mideast historic site, with some vehicles on display.)
