On September 8, 1994, Isao Tomita presented a live, outdoor concert on the shore of the Danube River in Linz, Austria, for an audience of 80,000 people. The concert was called "The Mind of the Universe", and through his interpretations of classical music, Mr. Tomita was attempting to describe the 15 billion year history of the universe. He employed 13 channels of sound, including one from a helicopter 1,500 feet above the river, multi-channels on either side of the river and on a ship that also carried the violinist, shakuhachi player and a chorus of 100 Austrian singers. Special lighting, lasers, fireworks and other visual effects enhanced the sound presentation. Tomita's "stage", where he controlled the sound, was a specially constructed pyramid suspended from a crane near the river.

Francesco Anselmo is the real name used by this Italian musician, sometimes used many pseudonyms such as Pinto Varez, Lee Selmoco, Alex Brown, Tony Tomas, Arsenio Bracco, etc.. He worked as pianist, arranger, conductor, writer, composer and record producer, while he was artistic director of the Italian record company Vedette (1962-1986). The repertoire of this album offers 18 subjects having orchestrated accordion, featuring prevalent music of French origin.

To date, Richard Clayderman has recorded over 1,500 pieces of music in his repertoire. Along with his solo performances also published two works together with the James Last Orchestra. This is the first part of the second one, published in triple CD in 2004, which includes studio recordings made between 1990 and 1994 both.

Etran Finatawa was formed as a band at the time of the 2004 Festival in the Desert near Timbuctou. The literal meaning of their name is ‘the stars of tradition’. They are the first group to use the songs and music of the Wodaabe in a modern context. They began as a group of ten musicians who wanted to unite these two nomadic cultures as a symbol of peace and reconciliaton. The touring and recording band consists of five players two of whom are Tuareg and three, Wodaabe-Fulani. In Niger the Wodaabe and the Tuareg live side by side on the desert’s fringes sharing pastures and water sources which sometimes leads to feuding. They work together to be strong and to give their culture a future in this changing world.

It could be argued that Billy Currington is enjoying himself just a tad too much on his fourth album. Everything rolls just a little bit too easily, Currington letting his words crawl out in a slow drawl, the tempos never getting any quicker than a shuffle, although things almost get heated on the bluesy closer, “Lil’ Ol’ Lonesome Dixie Town.” It’s such a low-key, lazy record, so consistent in tone that the singsongy chorus of “Love Done Gone” positively blares…..
