'But Polyansky's hearty and affectionate embrace leaves nothing to be desired, and his urgent account makes me wish he had given us both symphonies, coupled with the Variations, as he is head and shoulders above either Svetlanov or Serov both temperamentally and sonically, and certainly it is his recording of the B minor I will be returning to with the greatest pleasure. Here is a first-rate introduction to the music of Arensky.'
