The Lost Broadcasts are a series of DVD sets featuring performances that have rarely been seen since the original transmission on German television, in some cases more than forty years ago. Some of the artists featured within the series are legendary and these "Lost" performances will be a fine addition to any music fans collection. The series covers a number of styles and genres however all of the performances are of a high calibre.
Of all the early breakthrough rock & roll artists one of the most important to the development of the genre and indeed perhaps popular music is Chuck Berry. Chuck is one of the most vital artists to breakthrough into the mainstream. He is possibly Rock n Roll's greatest songwriter with a catalogue of material second to none. His influence stretches across the decades and more importantly key artists who broke through in the sixties were hugely influenced by his style and material. Artists who owe a debt to Chuck Berry are The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Beach Boys and Bob Dylan. There are of course many more that have been influenced by the man and also featured Chuck Berry songs and riffs in their live sets and albums.
The material featured in this DVD package is drawn from a session that took place in March 1972 and included the songs Memphis Tennessee, In The Wee Wee Hours, Let It Rock, Oh Carol, School Days, C'est la Vie, Roll Over Beethoven and an extended interview. Fast forward to the second session which took place in November 1972 and we have Chuck running through Johnny B Goode, In The Wee Wee Hours and Let It Rock, Finally we have a single track filmed in December 1972, the classic Hail Hail Rock n Roll.
