Alabama native Davis Raines has a warm voice that's as bittersweet as tobacco, with subject matter to match. After working as a guard in a maximum security prison - including running a death row unit - Raines has gone on to write songs in Nashville that are more than a little reminiscent of the Hank Williams music of his youth. Raines sings an awful lot about people in desperate situations, but his boisterous voice and intelligent songwriting can adapt to just about any road he needs to travel.
