This recording comprises the most famous and largely played orchestral works - excepting the two Romanian Rhapsodies op.11 - by the great composer George Enescu, namely Symphony no.1 in E flat major op.13, Suite for orchestra in C major no.1 op.9 and two Intermezzi op.12.Tracks:
It is well known that all Enescu's output is imbued with Romanian folk tunes masterfully filtered through his magnificent science of orchestration acquired during his musical training in prestigious European conservatories (in Vienna and Paris). Special timbres, amazing orchestral colours, a very personal way of treating the sound and textures along with a unique lyrical mood prevent his compositions from framing them into certain patterns or aesthetics.
Cristian Mandeal is a reputed conductor who feels very deeply the unique flavour of this kind of music and finds the proper accents in recreating fabulous inner worlds of these scores. The recording is realised in the company of the Bucharest Philharmonic Orchestra, an ensemble accustomed with Enescu not only for it bears his name to honour the iconic Romanian composer but also for it understands at the largest extent the topos of his creation, the recurrent themes and the aspirations of this music.
