is the eleventh studio album recorded by American R&B group , released in October 1973 on the Buddah label. The album, the group's first for Buddah after leaving Motown, includes their first and only Billboard Hot 100 number-one hit , which also reached number-one on the R&B singles chart. The album also produced other the successful singles, including and , with both songs peaking at number-one on the R&B singles chart and top five on the Billboard Hot 100, and the moderately successful single . The album was also their second studio album to make the top ten on the Billboard 200 and their second of five R&B albums chart-toppers. The first album cut by for Buddah Records was a watershed in their history. Co-produced by the group and , embodied all of what had learned in their previous six years at Motown, watching the way their records were made, combined with the maturity of the sound that they'd achieved in that time, and virtually complete freedom to choose their repertory - a factor that they were mature and sophisticated to exploit to the fullest. The result was four hit songs, including the chart-topping (originally written as ) and one of the biggest selling albums in their history - was sophisticated soul at its best, belting out numbers with great forcefulness and passion while the group provided delicate backup. Among the surprising non-hits is the radiantly sung and a beautiful harmonized cover of featuring singing lead. Reissued on CD by BMG Special Products in 1996 with full annotation, and worth tracking down in any format.
