Jan Akkerman was my favorite overall guitarist and the most influential to me as a young guitarist growing up in the '60s and '70s. He did it all: electric, acoustic, classical, and even lute. His music (especially of the '70s) was harmonically rich and compositionally ingenious, and his playing was totally unique and brilliant. He could exercise amazing restraint, or he could blow you away with his technical agility. But his music and playing always engaged me as a listener and admiring guitarist. Well, here it is, 40 years later, and I still rank him at the very top. I'd rather watch ol' Jan play than anyone else. So, it was a no-brainer to me when this DVD became available. This DVD is a must-have for an Akkerman fan.
