lt's hard to believe that "Whiskey Woman" LP was never released on CD! This excellent debut album by the American band was issued in early 1972 on RCA Victor label and is best described as blues-based, very energetic hard-rock inspired by Led Zeppelin, Free & Humble Pie - with catchy, but heavy guitar riffs, solid rhythm section and great vocals. It's worth noting that all tracks were recorded completely live - with a small, invited audience. Unfortunately, the album went almost completely unnoticed, although the band got at least a chance to record their second (and equally good) vinyl. This CD was carefully remastered from the original, analogue source and will surely appeal to the most fans of raw and spontaneous heavy rock!

Growing up in upstate New York, these guys ruled the roost in the early 70's. They had the misfortune to sign to RCA,a label that couldn't even handle the Elvis account correctly. Probably for financial reasons, JB recorded this, their major label debut, live in the studio. It's a strong effort, with tight playing, good songwriting, and well chosen covers(Spirit in the Dark KILLS!). The star here in my mind is drummer Tom Glaister, who didn't make it onto the next record (Way Down East), and JB needed TWO drummers to replace him. Both singer Joe Whiting and guitarist Mark Doyle have had long interesting careers in music to this day. This is a rocking little record that won't do you any harm and might put a big smile on your face!!!
