About his album, Maala says: "The album feels like a progression - it’ll feel familiar to some extent. I feel like I’m trying new things out." The upcoming album will feature ten tracks that were recorded earlier this year at Golden Age Studios in Auckland with producer Josh Fountain (also of Leisure), and include writing collaborations with U.S. songwriter MoZella (Miley Cyrus - ‘Wrecking Ball’, One Direction - ‘Perfect,’) and New Zealand’s own Leroy Clampitt (Justin Bieber - ‘Company’). The new music has piqued the interested of fans around the globe, including long-time supporter Zane Lowe, who hosted the worldwide radio premiere of KIND OF LOVE on Apple’s Beats 1, noting “a great voice, a brilliantly produced pop record.
