    Originally released in November 1969 on small Impact label (subsidiary to Immediate Records) this beautiful concept album was carefully composed and very convincing blend of The Beatles & The Kinks-like pop-psychedelia, vocal harmonies reminiscent of psychedelic era The Pretty Things and The Zombies and early progressive elements of early Deep Purple, Caravan's debut LP and less-known bands like Velvett Fogg, The Fox and Koobas. Within weeks of the band's release the Immediate label went bankrupt and with practically no promotion it's not surprising that this very promising album had minimal sales figures. This carefully remastered CD edition has been expanded with rare single from 1970

    ================================================================================

    Samson was one of the more obscure outfits signed to Andrew Oldham's Immediate label subsidiary, Impact, considering that they got to cut an entire concept album, Are You Samson?, which was released by the label in 1969. Unfortunately, within weeks of its release Immediate went bankrupt, which has added to its obscurity. Musically, it is a well developed concept with an assortment of influences that blend progressive rock with heavy psychedelia; comparable to bits and pieces of The Beatles, The Kinks, The Pretty Things (psych period), and The Zombies; the instrumentation includes French horn and trumpet along with guitar, bass, drums, and a lead vocalist. This was their only album. They played the Marquee Club, and were known around London, but never caught on. Keyboard man and singer Ian Kewley later worked with Strider and Limey, before hooking up with Paul Young. This Samson had no relationship to an early '70s English band of the same name.
