I was introduced to this band back in 96 by a record store owner friend of mine. He said, " Dude, if you like Sabbath you will dig these guys". So I checked them out and immediately became a fan as soon as I heard the vocalist. The man sounds more like Ozzy than Ozzy does these days. And the band is pretty damn good too. This disc finds them a few years older and more tighter but still keeping the stoner groove.Tracklist :
And the groove is the key word here. This disc is packed full of catchy riffs and head shaking grooves. From the opening track to the closer you will find yourself tapping or nodding along. This is old school stoner played very well, steady rhythms, great guitar solos, and the aforementioned Ozzy vocals harken back to the late 60's and the 70's of my childhood when sounds like this were fresh and new. And like those classic bands of my childhood theses guys sound fresh and still hold up 11 years later.
This band IS classic stoner and will be fondly looked back on years from now when we are all old and gray. Bluesy at times, these guys show their roots with each track, and the roots run deep into you, leaving seeds which blossom into stoner bliss with tracks like Strange Gods, Strange Alters and the classic track Tales from the afterburner. This is damn good stoner here and worth checking out by all fans of the genre or fans of damn fine metal. If you like your stoner metal old school style then go no further, dynamite guitar solos throughout, soaring vocals, grooving bass and drums, this is it, this is the shit. Not one bad track on the whole disc and definitely worth checking out, you will be glad you did.
