What does it take to make a music star? It helps to start with a large slice of natural talent. Then you have to pay your dues. Dallas-born Tamara's background was fortuitous - her grandfather was a noted pianist and choral director, her mother played piano and her father has spent a lifetime in the business. After exposure to music in church and school, she took up the career that was inevitable. Aged seventeen, she was singing professionally to great approval. The dues-paying had begun. International touring - primarily as a Blues artist - followed. As so often in matters of style and talent, fans in France caught on to her gifts earlier than what is now a substantial American following. But there's always been a lot more to Tamara than Blues, important though they are.
