Tenebris is yet another in a long line of cool Polish prog metal bands and they’ve actually been around in one form or another since the early 90s (after a short break around 2004). Now after four years, the band has come out with Alpha Orionis and what a difference a few years can make! This is a much more intricate and varied album with a ton to offer any prog metal fan. Tenebris is a five-piece band (with the addition of keyboards to the standard lineup) and the guys here are seriously interested in all things outer space, hence the pics on their albums of aliens or, as on the new album, a cool picture of indigenous peoples (Mayan perhaps?) being greeted by a tall four-armed visitor. t’s been a great year so far for Polish prog metal with the releases of the new Riverside and DispersE albums along with the upcoming new album by Votum. Somehow I get the feeling that Tenebris is not as well-known as these other stellar groups but I hope that’ll be changing soon with the release of this excellent new album.
