Toad the Wet Sprocket - New Constellation (Deluxe Edition) (2013)

It’s been a decade and a half since Toad the Wet Sprocket has released new music. The foursome was at the height of their popularity in the early-mid Nineties, with hits like “All I Want,” “Walk on the Ocean,” “Good Intentions” and “Something’s Always Wrong.” The easygoing jangle of their music and the earnest lyricism of frontman Glen Phillips earned them a string of hit albums throughout the decade. Toad has been touring for a couple of years now, and they also released an album of re-recorded versions of their hits, but “New Constellation” is marks the first original song recorded since the fellas reunited.

…and it’s good.

“New Constellation” finds the guys sounding like they never went away. It’s amazingly tuneful, fantastically tight and ranks right up there with the best Toad material. Looking forward to what the band has up their sleeves in the future.
