Composer Tom Hamilton uses a variety of synthesizers to create wonderfully fluid sounds that suggest, as Kyle Gann put it, "the city transportation system translated into rhythm and texture." Actually, Hamilton derived the timings of his music from certain stations in the New York subway system. And the music becomes an environment that provides points of departure for improvisors Thomas Buckner (voice), Roscoe Mitchell (alto saxophone), Ralph Samuelson (shakuhachi), Peter Zummo (trombone), and Jonathan Haas (percussion).
