Classical / Experimental / Drumset

Vadrum, nickname of Italian drummer Andrea Vadrucci, has been pursuing percussion since his young days. His popularity skyrocketed in 2006 when he began posting videos of his experiments onto his YouTube channel, allowing viewers a glimpse of his drum filled interpretations of much loved tunes. The years that followed exposed him to a plethora of media, making him well known in his home country. His debut solo album was inevitable. Classical Drumming fuses renowned classical tracks with contemporary drumming (hence the name), and nothing more. No guitars, keyboards or synths, just a traditional 36-piece orchestra and a drum kit for an hour. Though the concept is simple, watch The Barber of Seville video to appreciate the finesse and understand what the album is about. With a track list of 20 songs, you’ll be taken for a journey through the 1700s and 1800s. Rossini’s William Tell Overture, Beethoven’s Symphony No. 5, Mozart’s Eine Kleine Nachtmusik, the first two concertos of Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons, to name a few, and some Italian classics thrown in for good measure. Their original compositions are essentially kept intact, though the percussion adds an extra flavour to these familiar tunes.
