Superb compilation album by the vocal group 'Joven América' (1970-76), released in 1977 in Spain by Belter label. This group, created in the late 60's by the musician, pianist and songwriter Willy Bascuñán (Chile), performed during those years in Spain, (where he was presented by Juan Manuel Serrat), Switzerland and Germany with recognized success. The group, with an exquisite vocal combination, provided the fusion of electronic and vernacular instruments with South American folk roots songs.

This album collects nearly two LPs, 'Chile '(1974) - and 'Soy del sur' (1976), previously edited by Belter and Columbia labels in Europe. With musical support of major issues, among others Yupanqui ('Luna tucumana'), Violeta Parra ('La jardinera'), Borges and Piazzolla ('Milonga para Jacinto Chiclana '), Buarque (' Gente humilde ') or César Isella ('Fuego en Animaná') -with which Willy had already worked in 1969 -. Also it includes two songs from Willy Bascuñan himself, 'Soy del sur' and 'Voy pa Mendoza' (1st prize winning song Festival Viña del Mar 1969 in folkloric genre). The tonal richness and seriousness of 'América Joven' for an hour deservedly delighted with this bunch of South American folk songs. A treat not to lose.
