Compilation of 18 songs selected from the best of the work of jazz guitarist Jean Baptiste "Django" Reinhardt (Belgium, 1910-1953). Django was the first jazz musician with European roots who served with his music and his guitar a certain influence similar to that of the great American artists. His music fused jazz swing and traditional gypsy music from Eastern Europe, creating what became known as 'gypsy jazz' or 'gipsy swing', which in French is called 'jazz manouche'. Their sound was often romantic and cheerful if not very flexible. Its influence on the swing and the country was very important. This CD gathers items recorded between 1936 and 48, during European war, fortunately having more interest than the ones from his last time. The origin and old analog recordings is appreciable. In the repertoire, never fails to miss their mark of swing. Both the issues of opening and closing of the CD were recorded with his old partner Stéphane Grappelli on violin and his original quintet 'Hot Club of France'. A superb collection with over 50 minutes of music from one of the European interpreters, prematurely spoiled, more important and influential on American jazz.
