Eddie Palmieri, one of the most innovative artists of Latin music and a pioneer of salsa, at age 25 created a group 'La Perfecta' in 1961, with trombonist Barry Rogers and singer Ismael Quintana. The great percussionist Manny Oquendo also supports the recording, specially on timbales. This is one of the first bands of salsa Yorkers, who served until the end in 1968 due to financial problems. These are very experimental first records of the future evolution of salsa music on the music stand of fashion beats in those years. This is the first recording in which Eddie plays the piano 'montuno' –chromatic playing of syncopated character- with the left hand, while making solo with the right one. The singing voice is that of the great Ismael Quintana.
