Gorgeous ambient/downtempo album from Cochois which I have played a lot since I purchased it in Germany 3 years ago. From ethereal, haunting melodics over claustrophobic mechanics to warm nighttime moods, this album has it all. Chrome De Lux is yet another musical piece that strengthens Elektrolux's status as one of my alltime favourite labels.

Some of JFC's Chrome de Lux was tremendously successful, some of the darkest and most atmospheric ambient music around made by a German producer who knew how to pull it off without resorting to unintentional comedy. It had the stalking menace of the darkcore scene except, of course, without the samples and poly-beats. But the rest veered off into poor dub and shoddy downtempo, neither interested in good grooves or a consistent approach. Frank Cochois had cleverness with such material, evidenced by his Timewriter alias, but it seldom surfaced at the start of JFC's existence.
