Jose Alba & Ricardo Curto - Inevitable (2013)

These two Canarian musicians present for the very first time as an act together their disc titled Inevitable at this twentysecond edition of the festival - FICJ&MH; the result of long periods of time both artists have spent residing & working in the USA.

Vocalist José Alba, considered by many as new talent on the European scene, had also resided in Madrid where he made successful appearances on Spanish televisión and toured with the tenor Nelson Hebo, performing at the Kapital & Joy Eslava Theatres. In the year 2008, when he decided to go to Philadelphia to perfect his vocal skills, he came into contact with American repertoire. Influenced by the music of Nat King Cole, Tony Bennet & Frank Sinatra, Alba possesses a charismatic & stable voice that balances between its potency and quality.

Ricardo Curto, pianist, composer & educator, had resided in Boston for a period of three years, where he had received a scholarship by the University of the Berklee College of Music. Having graduated as a pianist, he studied with the legendary pianist Joanne Brackeen and performed, recorded and participated in Master Classes with musicians of the caliber of Eddie Gomez, AaronGoldberg, Taylor Eigsty & GretchenParlato. His first disc titled Cada día Como El Último was a commercial success and received excellent reviews by both critics and the general public. His latest two albums - Inevitable & Equilibrium –were both recorded in Boston on the “Bebyne Records” label.

In this first disc recorded together by Alba & Curto, the Canarian musicians were accompanied by a series of luxury guest artists who defined the rhythm section: Max Ridley (contrabass), Max Holmberg (drums) and other musicians from the New York & UK scene.
