Romanus Weichlein – Missa Rectorum Cordium (2007)

Preciously little is known about the Austrian monk Romanus Weichlein; only recently musicologists have unearthed some of his compositions. A pleasant kind of baroque, with lots of horns, trumpets and trombones is what you’ll hear on this cd, together with two jubilant choirs.
I just happened to stumble upon him, and, fascinated by that uncommon name, I decided to search for him. I thought of him as some sort of alchemist, or a character from one of those centuries-old fairytales the Grimm brothers drew their inspiration from. Well, as mentioned above, he was a benedictine monk.
There’s one other publication here on avax, Encaniae Musices. This mass is the second one.
