Samuel Hall Band - Black Russian (2016)

If a heroin of David Lych will met the dead man of Jim Jarmush, the soundtracks will certainly be one of the poisonous ballads of the Samuel Hall Band. Sung inside the hollow of the ear, they are one of those which cherish you, comfort you, but keep the taste of their crossing of the Styx.

The “Samuel Hall Band” Story:
After playing in the extreme metal scene for a while (10 years in bands like Hare, Sludge or Dolls of Damnation) Stéphane Pache would like to slow down the tempo and reduce the volume to the max. After some years of writings songs he formed his band with one of the finest blues, jazz and rock musicians of Lausanne. A few rehearsals, 2 or 3 gigs and we have recorded our first album in august 2006.

After « Blood, Bread, Children and Bones », released in 2007, here is Samuel Hall Band’s second album: « The Big Nowhere ».
It was born by the fantasy of creating a soundtrack for an imaginary movie based on James Elroy’s similarly named novel.
The themes in this recording were made to support and lead the characters through Elroy’s plot, the original story being used as the red thread of the album.
Sliding from ambient to jazz ballads and desert guitars, its 15 titles stretch out as a crepuscular mirage bringing into light or casting into darkness corrupt cops, disenchanted playmates, psycho killers, and lovethirsty gangsters within their quest of power, revenge, and redemption.
