It probably won't make a lot of difference if I tell you I was one of 25 schoolkids on a day trip to Cheddar Caves when The Troggs were there having this (and other) photos taken for the sleeve. It was May 22nd 1966, another piece of uselss info? But they were the first rock band any of us had ever met face to face, so it was very special, but at the same time made me realise that much as we idolise our stars, they are but people, just like you and I. But when they're on stage, on TV, and their lifestyle means you rarely get the chance to meet them, they become the icons they are supposed to be.
So this album was a 'must have,' and although the picture is from Cheddar, it's not the one from the original 'From Nowhere' release, on the Fontana label, and quite a few extra tracks have been added. And surprised as they were by their #1 with Wild Thing, they hadn't written much original meterial, so there are a few cover versions here, but played The Troggs way, they too are special. Of course, after our 'meeting', the Troggs meant and always will mean a great deal, as will this album, and every track is a winner as far as I'm concerned. And yes, the title for the review, Reg actually said this when we were asking for autographs, as he had only 'changed' his name from Ball to Presley a few weeks before and couldn't remember it!
