Description : Le jour de son anniversaire, Meyer reçoit un curieux cadeau : une sculpture en bois d'un diable à l'aspect démoniaque et facétieux. Meyer sourit en reconnaissant un objet d'art typique de Bessans, un village de Savoie. Il appelle Constance, certain qu'elle lui a envoyé le diable pour son anniversaire. Mauvaise surprise : non seulement Constance ignorait que c'était son anniversaire, mais elle est aux prises avec un cadavre gelé retrouvé côté français, enfermé dans une chapelle isolée en pleine montagne. Dans le sac à dos de la victime se trouve un diable en bois sculpté. Il ne s'agit pas d'un meurtre à proprement parler mais comment en être sûr ? La victime s'est-elle enfermée par accident ou la porte s'est-elle refermée puis bloquée suite à un coup de vent ? Ayant reçu le même diable, Meyer décide de s'impliquer dans l'enquête…
