First-ever master-tapes reissue of collectable late 60s UK psychedelic/early progressive LP only issued at the time by Elektra in America. Includes previously unreleased songs and alternative mixes from the December 1968 album sessions. After a single for Decca as mod/soul band The Dimples, the Scunthorpe-based Gospel Garden cut a similarly- fashioned 45 for the Camp label before falling under the spell of emerging underground bands like Family and Jethro Tull. Honing their new sound on the burgeoning college circuit, they were signed by visiting Elektra label boss Jac Holzman and given a new identity: Methuselah. With American songwriter Kenny Young as producer, in December 1968 they recorded a quasi-concept album given the title ‘Matthew, Mark, Luke And John’ after the four-part song suite that dominated Side One. But Elektra failed to give the LP a UK release, and the US issue was delayed until October 1969 – by which time the band had split, with John Gladwin and Terry Wincott turning their backs on electricity to work as Amazing Blondel.

Complete With 2 X Cds Of Live Versions Of 'Nova Akropola' Songs From The Band's Own Archive. Vital Sleevenotes By Alexei Monroe. Few bands stand apart from the crowd as distinctly as Laibach. Their idiosyncratic outlook and philosophy were formed against the backdrop of post-Soviet socialism in the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, and the band has continued to follow an individual, often controversial path for over forty years, taking them into places few other artists dare to go. Originally released by Cherry Red in 1986, 'Nova Akropola' ('The New Acropolis') remains a masterpiece of politically-informed industrial expression, and signalled the beginning of Laibach's breakthrough onto the international scene, at a time when restrictions imposed on them in their homeland were beginning to be lifted. Curated, remastered and designed by the band and their organisation, this new 3CD edition includes two discs of vital live recordings of 'Nova Akropola' songs spanning the years 1985 to 2021, captured in England, Slovenia, Serbia and Macedonia. Packaged in new artwork and accompanied by brilliant sleevenotes from cultural theorist Alexei Monroe, author of 'Interrogation Machine' and associate of the band, this new edition demonstrates the longevity of both the songs and the philosophy behind them, and is a vital new addition to Laibach's catalogue.

Less of an intentionally confusing title than might be thought, Reilly for all intents and purposes is Durutti no matter the changes through the years – Vini Reilly does signal another new phase of the band's work, moving into a full embrace of technological possibilities via an Akai sampler. With Reilly and Mitchell joined by a slew of guests – Swing Out Sister keyboardist Andy Connell; singers Pol, Rob Gray, and Liu Sola; and even former member John Metcalfe on the epic surge "Finding the Sea" – Durutti this time around pursued the organic/machine combination to even more successful conclusions than on The Guitar. Reilly's singing has often come in for criticism (unwarranted, really, considering how his soft approach effortlessly suits the general atmosphere of Durutti's work), so the slew of sampled and borrowed snippets from other vocalists and musicians that pepper the album makes for an intriguing change. "Love No More," the album opener, shows how the approach can work, with acoustic guitar to the fore and echoed, truly haunting snippets of what sound like soul and opera singers wafting through the mix.

b. Eddy Conrad, 1959, Gary, Indiana, USA. Conrad grew up in Indiana obsessed by the sound of Isaac Hayes’ ‘Theme From Shaft’. The first record he ever purchased, Conrad would spend his pocket money continually attending reruns of the film at local cinemas. ‘As a kid you always have heroes but with John Shaft [the film’s protagonist] it was serious. He had that certain macho feeling that every kid wishes he had too.’ In 1985 he fulfilled a long-held ambition by re-recording the track, which became a number 13 UK chart hit. It might well have charted higher had another version of ‘Theme From Shaft’ by Van Twist not been released at the same time. Afterwards, however, Conrad and his band disappeared from view completely.

Iconic UK indie band Flowered Up, seen as London’s answer to Happy Mondays and The Stone Roses, reissue their debut album ‘A Life With Brian’ (from 1991) via London Records. The reissue follows a BFI documentary on the video of ‘Weekender’ and it’s legendary status in UK club culture of the time. The album remastering was overseen by Flowered Up keyboard player Tim Dorney.

Procol Harum's first album for Chrysalis, Grand Hotel, found the band returning to the grandeur of earlier works such as Shine on Brightly and Salty Dog. Robin Trower's replacement Mick Grabham is capable, even powerful, but not nearly as distinctive as his predecessor; consequently, the material tends to rely more on ornate arrangements than guitar riffs, making this somewhat more dignified than either of their previous studio albums, Home and Broken Barricades. Brooker and lyricist Keith Reid step up with strong material, notably the title track, "Toujours L'Amour," and "Fires (Which Burnt Brightly)." While the keyboard and orchestra-based arrangements harken back to earlier triumphs, the lyrics deal less with whaling stories than with social commentary; "A Souvenir of London" is about social diseases, with "T.V. Caesar" about the pervasive influence of television.

Knockout '90s action score gets expanded premiere! One of the higher request expansions we have received over the years has finally made it across the finish line! Sean Connery heads the cast, with Nicolas Cage, Ed Harris, Michael Biehn, William Forsythe supporting. 1996 action classic was a smash box-office hit and dynamic, powerhouse scoring by Nick Glennie-Smith and Hans Zimmer with Harry Gregson-Williams getting in some musical licks was a major ingredient in the film’s success. Trend-setting score features pulsating rhythms to drive action forward, with chopping melodic motifs above that became musical staples in numerous subsequent action movie trailers for years. There is melancholy as well in select moments, but action is keynote. Elements of military heroism and terrorism meld as armed take-over of Alcatraz prison complex known as “The Rock” by rogue group of Marines. San Francisco is the target of deadly VX rockets unless financial demands are met.

The 1973 album was her fourth solo release – another collaboration with John Cale – and was recorded in 1973 in London. Cale chose Brian Eno and Phil Manzanera of Roxy Music to work on the album with him; between them they provided the entire instrumental framework for Nico and her harmonium.This issue of The End is remastered here for the first time, and comes with a bonus disc of tracks including The End and a previously unreleased version of Das Lied der Deutschen performed live at London’s Rainbow Theatre on June 1, 1974, and some John Peel session tracks which are either unreleased or new to CD.

Expanded reissue of the 1975 Eurodisco classic and global sensation. Includes the Grammy-winning #1 hit “Fly Robin Fly,” plus “Save Me,” and five bonus tracks. Silver Convention (named after songwriter Sylvester Levay’s nickname of “Silver”) was formed in Munich, Germany and burst onto the music scene in 1975 with their recording of “Save Me”—a track originally sold into 16 countries (including the US) at MIDEM, the global music business conference. It became the title track of their debut album, which hit #1 on the Billboard R&B chart and #10 Pop, introducing the world to “The Munich Sound,” which would soon be known as Eurodisco.

First released in October 1975, the album was a conceptual work about the concerns of the impact of pollution and environmental damage to the earth and was recorded at the Chateau d’Herouville in France and at AIR Studios in London with sessions engineered by Geoff Emerick. The album was also significant for the guest appearance of synthesiser player Larry Fast (of Synergy, who was later to work with Peter Gabriel). ‘Recycled’ became another hit in Germany and the USA and spawned a long US and Canadian tour. The message of the album is arguably more pertinent than it was at the time of its original release and remains one of Nektar’s most highly regarded works. This new 5CD edition features a newly remastered version of the album along with two rare single edits, a discarded early mix of the album by Geoff Emerick and an additional three CDs of live recordings from concerts at Massey Hall, Toronto and Calderone Concert Hall in Long Island on the band’s 1976 Recycled tour. The set also features an illustrated book and is a fine celebration of a progressive rock classic.
