Glastonbury Fayre is a triple album released in 1972, comprising performances by acts who had appeared at the Glastonbury Festival in 1971 (see Festival line-up 1971) and others. The album came in a fold-out poster sleeve inside a printed PVC outer sleeve, with a 32-page illustrated booklet, a poster sheet and a fold-out Silver Pyramid, all designed by Barney Bubbles. Although most of the performances are live, not all were recorded at the Festival. The track contributed by Grateful Dead (titled "Dark Star….bury" for this compilation) is a version of "Dark Star" recorded at the Empire Pool, Wembley, London, on 8 April 1972 (during the band's Europe '72 tour). The group was widely rumoured to be due to appear at the Festival but did not. Studio demo recordings were contributed by Marc Bolan and Pete Townshend, who did not appear at the event, and by David Bowie, who did.

Transferred from the original tape reels that were recorded by engineer Carlos Melero, the limited-edition 3 LP set is mastered by Matthew Lutthans at The Mastering Lab and pressed on 180-gram vinyl at Le Vinylist. The elaborate booklet includes newly commissioned liner notes, plus interviews with artists who knew or were inspired by Charles Mingus. This is an official release in cooperation with Jazz Workshop, Inc. and the Charles Mingus Estate exclusive for Record Store Day 2025.

ABBEY ROAD'S world-renowned engineers have been cutting grooves into discs since the studios first opened in 1931. This record was pressed using a precision technique known as half-speed mastering, in which the source master and cutting lathe run at half speed on a specially adapted Neumann VMS-80. The result is a cut with excellent high frequency response and solid stereo images. In short, half-speed mastering produces a superlative master of the highest quality.

Atlantic Records began releasing 12-inch LPs of hit singles by their established rhythm & blues artists in 1956. An early release in this "8000 'popular' series" was Ray Charles' 1957 album of the same name. It was not only the pianist and singer's first studio album, but also a compilation of his hit singles up to his debut. The LP was re-released in 1962 as "Hallelujah I Love Her So".
