is a five-issue limited series that is writer's Steven T. Seagle's take on Faust. Very well-written and weaves an intricate tale of desperation, anxiety, vengeance, sexuality and betrayal. I have some personal complaints with the ending, though--but over-all another excellent page-turner from Image Comics.

It is a worthy sequel to "Sven the Returned" and a perfect standalone issue. This series may perhaps be one of the best monthly comic books ongoing, along with the Robert Kirkman's .

A spoof in the tradition of Mad Magazine, the 4-issue miniseries took its cue when US President Barack Obama mentioned he collected Conan the Barbarian comics as a kid. Published by Devil's Due Publishing and written by Larry Hama and drawn by Christopher Schons, it is set in a time of swords and sorcery. A gathering of children listen as a shaman retells the legend of Barack the Barbarian. Riding in on a donkey, Barack the Barbarian is determined to set things right in the city of Warshingstun, “where every word uttered was lie, and every soul was for sale. A place where men traded dark secrets and openly peddled a powerful drug named Influence.” The political jokes and gags fly fast and furious; the first issue really kicks into high gear when Red Sarah, the Fighting Queen of the North, appears. The same thing holds true for the second issue. I hate to say it, but... I want more of Red Sarah!

is an eponymous Western comic book antihero created by writer John Albano and artist Tony DeZuniga and published by DC Comics. The right side of his face horribly scarred, he was an officer for the Confederacy during the American Civil War, fought at Gettysburg and is normally shown wearing a tattered Confederate States Army jacket. Hex is surly and cynical, but bound by a personal code of honor to protect and avenge the innocent and is in many ways similar to Clint Eastwood's (2 similar ongoing titles from Dynamite Entertainment are also posted here in Avaxhome by yours truly, complete). Jonah Hex had his first self-titled series that began in 1977 and lasted for 92 issues and which came to be known as Jonah Hex Volume 1. Aside from this, he also had a sci-fi-based eighteen-issue limited series that had scant recognition in the US but gained critical success and acclaim in the UK and elsewhere, plus three other miniseries under DC's Vertigo imprint. The current ongoing series, Volume 2, started in November 2005.
