Caliber 1-5 Complete

is a 5-part limited series published from May to September 2008 and one of the first comics out from newcomer Radical Comics. It is the Arthurian legend of Excalibur and the Knights of the Round Table as retold in the American Old West, with all of its great symbolism, magic and spirit of adventure. The Knights of the Round Table are all gunslingers bound by a code of honor to protect the weak and defend the innocent until they are undone from within by their own moral corruption. In this tale, itself is a tattooed six-gun, given to Arthur by the Indians and imbued with supernatural power. The secret of the gun is that it is never loaded with bullets, but when a man with Justice on his side is holding it, it can fire. When it does, it fires Thunder itself and never misses. Based on their list of upcoming releases Radical seems to be publishing genre comics with entirely gorgeous artwork and an emphasis on character-driven stories that go beyond the conventions of the medium. Indeed, such was the impact of this series that a film adaptation is in the works, with famed director John Woo at the helm.
