New Mutants #7 (Ongoing)

are three series featuring an eponymous group of teenaged mutant superheroes-in-training. All three, two of which are now discontinued, are spin-offs of the popular X-Men franchise published by Marvel Comics. The first team of "New Mutants" was created by Chris Claremont (long-time writer of ) and artist Bob McLeod; they first appeared in 1982's and were subsequently featured in their own title from 1983 until 1991, at which point they were reinvented as . Like its parent title, The New Mutants highlighted interpersonal and group conflict as well as action and adventure, and featured a large, ensemble cast. The third (hence the tag Vol. 3) and ongoing New Mutants series, written by Zeb Wells and reuniting most of the original team, launched in May 2009. The current New Mutants are: Cannonball, Dani Moonstar, Karma, Sunspot, Magma and Magik. Issue #7 is the second part of the ongoing three-part story arc that started in issue #16. "Necrosha" itself was initiated by a , a One-Shot that laid the foundation of the new story arc which crosses over into the pages of New Mutants, X-Force and X-Men: Legacy.
