Sandra Chamoux received the highest distinctions in Christian Bernard’s class at the Conservatoire à Rayonnement Régional (CRR) of Grenoble before being admitted with honors to the Haute École de Musique in Geneva, where she studied with Harry Datyner and was awarded the Premier Prix de virtuosité in 1992. A laureate of the Gian-Battista Viotti and Ferruccio Busoni international competitions in Italy, she also studied under Catherine Collard, Vlado Perlemuter, and Yevgeni Malinin.

An eclectic musician, Sandra Chamoux performs a wide-ranging repertoire both as a soloist and chamber musician, in France and abroad (Europe, China, India, United States…). She has performed under the direction of Jean-Sébastien Béreau, Marc Tardue, Patrick Souillot, Frédéric Bouaniche, and Nathalie Borgel — with whom, as part of the Symphonia Médica orchestra, she recorded Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 2 live in concert.

She regularly shares the stage with artists such as Michel Moraguès, Romain Leleu, Elsa Grether, Sergio Lamberto, Vadim Tchijik, Sonia Wieder-Atherton, Jean Ferrandis, the Hermès Quartet, the Athéna Trio, and the Liberquartet. Together with Florence Cioccolani, she has performed the complete works for two pianos and four hands by Rachmaninoff. Since 2015, she has also performed regularly with cellist Hélène Dautry; their recording of Brahms’s two cello sonatas was released by Lyrinx.

Contemporary music holds a central place in her artistic journey. She has premiered and recorded works by Philippe Hersant, Jean-Claude Wolff, Sophie Lacaze, and Claire Vazart — including a piano sonata, a trio, and a song cycle written for her. She is also the dedicatee of two works by Florentine Mulsant, including Prélude, Aria et Final, which she will premiere at Salle Cortot in 2025.

Since 2016, she has collaborated with baritone Emmanuel Cury. Together they formed the Duo Phidylé, whose recording of Duparc’s Mélodies for Calliope received a Choc Classica award in September 2020.

In May 2021, her double album featuring Philippe Hersant’s Éphémères and Debussy’s Images was released on Calliope. It received glowing reviews in both France and Germany, as well as 5 stars from Classica and 4 Diapasons.

In 2023, she joined the ensemble Des Équilibres for the recording of César Franck’s complete chamber music for strings and piano (Klarthe label), which was awarded 5 Diapasons and 5 Classica stars.

Her upcoming solo piano album RéSonare will be released in 2025 by the Indésens label.

Sandra Chamoux teaches piano at the École Normale de Musique de Paris “Alfred Cortot” and at the CRD of Nanterre. She is a faculty member at several international academies (Nancy, Grand Paris, Moulin d’Andé…) and is regularly invited to give masterclasses in France, Switzerland, Italy, Germany, India, and China.
