The Mystic Hands of Doctor Strange #1 (One-Shot Special, 2010)
    CBZ (Minutemen) | Marvel | Released Mar 10 2010 | 50 Pages (Including Covers) | 59.85 MB

An oversized black-and-white comic book, offers a collection of short stories by various writers and artists, paying homage to the magazine-style comics of old and the character as originally created by the legends Stan Lee and Steve Ditko. The first, and meatiest is a tale by Kieron Gillen and Frazer Irving, "The Cure". None of the the other stories are as lengthy as Gillen's but all stand out in their own way. Peter Milligan and Frank Brunner tackle a more down-to-Earth story (for Strange, anyway) where the hero attempts to help a middle-aged man deal with the demons of his past. Next is a tale written and drawn by Ted McKeever, with an inebriated Strange meeting both friend and foe in a dark alleyway--packed with both energy and humor. The last story up is an illustrated prose piece by Mike Carey and Marcos Martin. HQ Minutemen scan. Three thumbs up.

    4 CBR's in RAR | Marvel Knights | Published Feb - May 1999 | 31.14 MB

This 4-issue limited series where Doctor Strange again meets the dread Dormammu and published under the Marvel Knights imprint is notable for being the Master of the Mystic Arts' first limited series. It is also notable for being co-written (with writer Dan Jolley), drawn and penciled, including covers, by multi-Eisner Award nominee Tony Harris (). Harris imparts Doctor Strange with a rather dark, sinister air--the character is, after all, a sorcerer--but I still like Steve Ditko's and Gene Colan's work more.

, that fictional Master of the Mystic Arts and later Sorcerer Supreme of the Marvel Omniverse, first appeared in Marvel's science-fiction/fantasy/suspense comic book anthology series in July 1963 as a creation of comic book legends Stan Lee and Steve Ditko. At that time Strange Tales already began featuring Marvel's Silver Age superheroes along with its sci-fi/suspense stories as backup and the first superhero regularly featured was the Human Torch of the Fantastic Four, Johnny Storm. When Doctor Strange appeared, became a "split book" format, and Doctor Strange shared billing with the Human Torch until until issue (July 1965), and then super spy Nick Fury until issue (May 1968). Strange appeared in , skipped two issues then returned in before his eight-page origin story appeared in (Dec. 1963), continuously in 9-10 page features until ; the following month Doctor Strange's adventures continued in the new full-length (the numbering from Strange Tales was just continued). In all these, I believe the Stan Lee-Steve-Ditko collaboration from through to be the best and the most original, especially with Steve Ditko's fantastic, surreal backgrounds and landscapes. All of Doctor Strange's feature appearances as handled by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko are included in this compilation, complete.
