Alanis Morissette - Live At Montreux 2012 (2013)
    Video: NTSC, MPEG-2, 720 x 480 (1.778) at 29.970 fps | Audio: AC-3 2ch. at 224 Kbps, AC-3 6ch. at 448 Kbps, DTS 6ch. at 755 Kbps
    Genre: Rock | Label: Eagle Rock | Copy: Untouched | Release Date: 22 April 2013 | Runtime: 98 min. | 6,57 GB (DVD9)

For her first concert collection in over a decade (available on Blu-ray, DVD and also CD, but with an abridged song list), Alanis Morissette has no trouble packing a night of Switzerland's annual Montreux soiree with a trip through her alternative rock annals. Though some of the show is steeped in tunes from 2012's "Havoc And Bright Lights," which once again finds Morissette belting with her signature abandon, the bulk of the set list is once again culled from 1995's multi-platinum breakthrough "Jagged Little Pill."
Even though so many years have passed, aggressive anthems like "All I Really Want," "You Oughta Know" and "Hand In My Pocket" could just as easily shape today's rock sounds, angst and all. From a pop perspective, "Ironic" remains Morissette's ultimate calling card, though it's frustrating to find her handing much of the vocal duties over to the audience. Another source of stress is the singer/songwriter's constant pacing around the stage, at least during some of the more militant material when she isn't already playing guitar, harmonica or head banging. She does much of the latter during an especially assertive "Uninvited," a rousing pre-encore finale that ranks amongst the 38-year-old entertainer's most compelling works. In contrast, she closes out the night with the contemplative mantra "Thank U," perhaps not just expressing gratitude for this generally successful concert, but for a trailblazing career that's thus far afforded her over 60 million albums sold across the globe.
