The music of DANGER DANGER nowadays is anything but original and even back in 1991, when their second album "Screw It!" had been released, it had not been. Elements of BON JOVI (older version), SKID ROW and consorts have been computed, so basically nothing that would make it worth mentioning, if the whole thing wouldn't be so damn catchy and enjoyable…
Melodic Metal of the typically American kind of the early Nineties is it what this quintet has to offer us, but originality or rather the lack thereof, the whole thing sounds fresh, is easily digestible and has lots of catchy, good melodies and hooks, just like very catchy choruses, also using the then very common "Hohoho" and "Yeahyeahyeah"-element, which in itself is a rather negative sign, but still I really like "Screw It!"
The lyrics appear almost as if they've been written for our Reverend Wes, they mostly (literally) go under the belt, I don't want to go into the details, just so much: die-hard-feminists should better leave the lyrics unread…
The comrades cover the usual spectrum of mainly mid-paced songs, with emphasis on catchiness and party-compatibility, the typical ballads and also a pretty crunchy/fast cracker in form of "Horny S.O.B.". And I'd give you "Monkey Business", "I Still Think About You", "Everybody Wants Some" and also "Horny S.O.B." as check-out-tips.
Also worth mentioning is the track that had been torn apart by most critics: "Yeah, You Want It!". Why? Well, it's some sort of Rap, but strange enough these gentlemen praised the BEASTIE BOYS for just that… Well, I let it go under the party-banner and the track is pretty useless, but somehow a little funny still.
What mostly has been generously left unmentioned was the fact that the guys really could play, especially guitarist Andy Timmons shows signs of this skills, by now he has embarked on a solo-career and is pretty acknowledged as guitar-wizard.
So, who likes easily digestible, very catchy and well-made Melodic Metal with pretty, ehm, suggestive lyrics, should check out the second album of DANGER DANGER, originality almost zero, but with high fun-factor.~ metal-observer
