Steve Roach - February 2025 Exclusive (2025)

This month's offering covers a wide range of time and expression. The Other Morning was recorded live just a few days ago, Jan 22 at the Timehouse main studio. Many days will start with a spontaneous moment when the gear has been on for days and pieces are evolving and melting away and much is captured in these moments. This was centered around the large format modular system, along with the Oberheim TEO 5 synth, the resonate sequences are emanating from this.

Strings 1 and 2 go back to the time around Fever Dreams, Midnight Moon, and Streams and Currents electric guitar based zones. Strings 1 is still some of my favorite guitar weavings, these were featured in December 2020 exclusive collection and wanted to include these here for the mood I was building.

Worlds - Live at the Comeback Inn was recorded in 1982 in Venice Cailf. This club presented many electronic nights between jazz and alt music nights. At one point I played an outdoor Synth festival that was attended by Chris Franke of Tangerine Dream. We meet that day and he dropped by my little Timeroom studio the next day to check out a music video I was scoring for a visual artist he was interested in working with - David Em. He did the cover for Herbie Hancock's Future Shock album. Needless to say that was mind-blowing moment in my journey. Chris was warm and supportive and offered some cool tips to my set up.

Worlds was performed at many concerts at the time and would eventually be recorded in the studio for the Traveler album.
TRAVELER, released in 1983 my second solo and first on vinyl LP, a big accomplishment in and of itself for me back in the day. Recorded both in large pro studios (José Feliciano’s in Orange County ) on 24 track and Teac 4 track in the early Timeroom Culver City Calif.

In Present Time:
Most days when I wake up when immersing for concerts be it into the deep hours or bird thirty I will go directly to the live room in the Timehouse and simply start playing from what was still churning from the night before. By 3 or 4 am I fade the master volume down, drop into the sleeping chamber and eventually emerge and head directly back to the live room, no coffee, no food…fade the system back up that was sleeping along with me and keep going…this piece of the moment is exactly that…
