'Gig' is the debut album of Serbian group The Gamblers. The Gamblers Blues Band performs the authentic guitar blues from 1984. For these years of playin' them style has been going from Chicago, West Coast to Jump and Swing.
ВB King recently said: "All music is like a clock. Апd it always comes to the blues. As for me, I've never crossed over. I'm right here at the point on the clock where they found me. And I'll be here when they come 'round again". This is exactly how I see The Gamblers in Serbia today. Music has made many rounds over the last two and half decades since they started - but they are at the same point on that clock. It doesn't matter if it is powerful, sharp rhythm and blues from their beginning in mid- 1980s or polished, a bit old fashioned, but full of energy urban blues like they play today. It is always blues - without any compromise, or flirting with contemporary styles.
Presenting a debut album by the band that lasts so long is not an easy task. Bearing in mind that it's impossible to encapsulate all those years and style changes into one CD, we decided to give you what Тhe Gamblers do the best - their live show recorded in studio. That is why this album is entitled the Gig. Here you will find the same program with equal dose of feeling and energy which this band delivers at every club, or on festival stage during live performances. At the same time, this CD is a humble tribute to all great bluesmen whose music influenced Gamblers and made them sound like they do today. So, take The Gamblers home and enjoy their blues!
