I think this is a premiere on the pages of "The Metal Observer": I like an album released via Bad Afro Records! Yes, I would not have thought it possible, but it indeed is! BABY WOODROSE from Denmark surpassed my worst expectations from the cover and the looks of the guys, which hinted at extremely Seventies influenced music, which normally is not my cup of tea.
When I put BABY WOODROSE into my player for the first time, Val and me looked at each other and at the same time said "Austin Powers". Yes, this CD could be used as soundtrack for those movies, Seventies Rock par excellence is what we get and for some strange reason I like it. It has this fuzzy flair from the garage bands of that time, with that dirty edge to it, which at times almost smells of some not all that legal substances, if you understand what I mean…
The songs are pretty simple, but they just have feeling, something that many bands these days are just lacking big time. This also is something that you can hardly put into words, where the feeling lies, just when you hear the songs, they have it, it's that simple. Just take "Honeydripper", the excellent "Pouring Water", "Everything's Gonna Be Alright" or "You Better Run" to get an impression of what BABY WOODROSE are about.
