The most recognized contemporary female flamenco voice is the one of the singer Carmen Pacheco Rodríguez (Linares, 1951) aka Carmen 'Linares'. He began his career virtually with full age and she soon recorded the first album in 1970. Since then his career has continued to grow both in Spain and abroad (he was one of the first 'flamenco' artists who performed at the Lincoln Center invited by the New York Philharmonic Orchestra with the show 'El Amor Brujo' de Falla and then it praised his extraordinary expressive power). Carmen has taken his voice in the world, has been highly praised by critics and has received numerous national and international awards, the latest being in May 2011 the award for 'whole life' of the Academy of Arts and Sciences of music in Spain. Carmen is undoubtedly one of the greatest flamenco singers with knowledge and mastery of the flamenco styles. In this album Carmen, besides interpreting songs of flamenco essential styles –'bulería', 'fandango', 'seguiriya' o 'soleá'-, offers other styles considered less relevant, as 'romera', 'malagueña' or 'petener'. With Carmen play the guitars of Paco Cortés and Pedro Sierra and Carlos Benavent (bass), Jesus Heredia (percussion), Bernardo Parrilla (violin), Juan Parrilla (flute) and the dancer Javier Baron.
