As befits a protest record, De-Phazz has reinvented itself to some extent. The album could actually have been called "Bandmade". "This is the De-Phazz studio record with the greatest band influence," explains sample specialist and sound montage virtuoso Pit Baumgartner. Thus, the majority of the tracks on "Luck You!" were created in close collaboration with his long-time instrumental accomplices Ulf Kleiner (piano, Rhodes), Marcus Bartelt (saxophone, bass clarinet), and Oli Rubow (drums). The motto was: fewer collages like on the editing masterpiece “Pit Sounds”, released in 2024, but more handmade music.

The Bluebells’ Sisters is a perfect snapshot of early ’80s “Sound of Young Scotland”: Glasgow indie pop with bittersweet spirit, sharp hooks, and heartfelt harmonies. Signing to the then-nascent London Records, and working with a procession of esteemed producers (including Elvis Costello who became a mentor and teacher to the band), The Bluebells enjoyed three UK hits in the 1980s (‘Cath’, ‘Young at Heart’ and ‘I’m Falling’) before touring widely throughout Europe and North America, developing their live sound and signing to Seymour Stein’s Sire Records in the U.S.

Originally recorded for the small Music Masters label in the early '90s, this set of Bach's keyboard concertos was among a series of choice Music Masters items reissued by Nimbus late in the first decade of the 21st century. The Russians have never been known for Bach, but this is a solid traversal that can be recommended to anyone wanting to hear these concertos on a piano accompanied by modern instruments. Despite these forces, there is a good deal of influence from the British historical-instrument movement apparent here; the crisp string playing avoids any hint of Romantic sheen, and Feltsman is very subtle in his introduction of purely pianistic elements. The long notes in the slow movements tend to be just a bit more extended than would be possible on a harpsichord, and Feltsman thus creates a smooth, pearly texture that's quite lyrical. In several of the finales he pushes the tempo to high speeds, creating an entirely different effect on a piano that the music would have on a harpsichord.

Fourteen years after his last solo outing, STILLS ALONE, Stephen Stills unveiled 2005's MAN ALIVE!, a remarkably vital and dynamic album that features the veteran performer penning almost every song and playing many of the record's instruments. Although David Crosby is absent, Stills's other CSNY mates, Graham Nash and Neil Young, turn up separately. While Nash subtly sticks to backing-vocal duty, Young contributes his typically incendiary electric-guitar lines to the hard-rocking "'Round the Bend" and offers up vocal harmonies and acoustic-guitar work on the spare, soulful "Different Man." Little Earthquakes is the debut solo album of singer-songwriter Tori Amos, featuring the singles "Silent All These Years", "China", "Winter" and "Crucify". In 1998, Q magazine readers voted Little Earthquakes the 66th greatest album of all time, and in 2002 the same magazine named it the fourth Greatest Album of All-Time by a Female Artist. In a retrospective review of the album, AllMusic critic Steve Huey stated that with Little Earthquakes, Amos "carved the template for the female singer/songwriter movement of the '90s" and that while "her subsequent albums were often very strong, Amos would never bare her soul quite so directly (or comprehensibly) as she did here, nor with such consistently focused results."
