Giovanna is a multi-awarded Greek singer who bacame very popular at the 60's, in Greece and ex-Soviet Union, by singing a kind of beautiful songs known as "light" (elafra). This rare compilation includes wonderful compositions of Mikis Theodorakis, Stavros Xarhakos, Mimis Plessas and others, collected from 45 r.p.m. records. Giovanna's voice is of a rare quality, warm and tender, and is backed by great orchestras with a jazzy mood, directed by the composers. Giovanna is the artistic name of Ioanna Fassou, born at the Greek town of Amaliada, in Peloponissos. She studied classical music and opera at the National Conservatory and started singing "elafra" songs of famous composers, participating mainly at radio broadcastings of the 50s and 60s. She was awarded at many song festivals in Greece and abroad. She gave more than 150 live concerts at the ex-Soviet Union, where she became an idol. During her brilliant singer career, she recorded many best selling records in Greece, Germany, France, Italy and ex-Soviet Union and was really adored by millions of fans. She is referred by many names as "Caterina Valente of Greece", "Nightingale of Light Music" and others. After the 70s, she "turned a page" in her career, and became a successful writter, publishing 3 collections of poems and 6 best-selling novels.TRACKLIST
