This is a documentary about free jazz/modern creative composer Misha Mengelberg; and added to it, a whole range of music video clips, each of which I had to rip separately.
I joined the clips, so that you'll have two files instead of nine.
You'd be missing out on a spectacular show if you were to just take the documentary and skip the clips. And that cat on the front cover is definitely a composer’s pet!
Music fragments and statements give a clear insight in Mengelbergs original way of thinking and working. Old film material shows how Mengelberg developed from classic composing by jazz influences to become the godfather of Dutch improvised music
The documentary is called ‘Afijn’.
The names of the clips are respectively:
Pief – cat on the piano
Eeko – a duet of Misha and his parrot
Met welbeleefde groet van de kameel (sincere regards from the camel) – ICP Orchestra and Anthony Braxton
Improvisation – Misha with Han Bennink
Kneef - Misha
Gare Guillemin – Misha with Dave Douglas
Kachel – Misha
Baltimore Oriole – ICP Orchestra
Performers:
