From the booklet:
On the 6th of April, 1944, forty-four Jewish children and seven adults were arrested in a hostel for refugee children in lzieu, a village in the Ain departement of France. First, they were interrogated at the Fort of Montluc in Lyon, then sent to the internment camp in Drancy and, from there, deported to the extermination camp of Auschwitz, where they were all killed with the exception of Lea, one of the teachers. These children and adults were deported at the order of Klaus Barbie, whose trial in Lyon in 1987 awoke the memory of this tragedy. In this recording, Nguyen-Mien Dao makes the memory of these forty-four young martyrs live once more through the voices of the forty-four children brought together in the Radio France Children's Choir.
