Old School Punk Rock / Proper Pop Punk | Smokin' Troll Records # ST7

Try to find a real the U.K. punk band - here you have forgot about a million pointless British posers.

Out of Derbyshire, England comes the fabulous Apocalypse Babys, a killer '77 style band that deliver outstanding tunes on their second full-length CD. Great Album from a band that really can sing, write and play!

Over the years the band gained their fair share of Radio play and favourable reviews, back in the 90's when the "Punk" word wasn't nearly as acceptable as it seems to be now the Babe's were one of the few UK punk bands to gain regular airplay including the late great "John Peel Show" and Radio one's "The Evening Session" whatever that was? However it never made any difference to the bands standing, and by the late 90's with the Punk festivals kicking off and many group's reforming AB's got lost in a wave of nostalgia…

Apocalypse Babys - Whoops... Apocalypse Babys! (1996) RESTORED

Leaner and meaner than Robert D'Niro's character in Cape Fear The Apocalypse Babys, weigh in as legitimate contenders for the three chord crown, there are so may three chord pump in ya face merchants theses day that it's easy to forgive em if they can't produce more than three great songs. Well in the Apocalypse Babys case that's not a concern. They produce the goods from the ripping Ain't Ashamed' right through to the sleazy rock anthem of 34 Upton lane.Confidently straddling the line of underground pop genius and financial rock star reward, you will be wondering why you haven't heard the majority of these tracks o the evening session? 'Cops 'n' robbers', 'What the record company told us'. 'Rebellion is a thing of the past' all equal to anything the Ramones ever wrote. The inviting strum of I'm addicted is confirmation that you're on this rollercoaster ride of poignant pop drenched rock anthems to the very end. And, to be honest, only sniveling wussies would complain! The summer soaked 'Days like these' is ear marked HIT Dolebusters is another such track borrowing the melody from the sweet's Blockbuster end laying down some rather hilarious lyrics "We'll have your backs against the wall, who you gonna call…Dolebuster"! Get the picture? Short of only one thing and that's major financial backing, the Apocalypse Babys are definite punk rock perfectionists. Only a grave injustice will prevent them from world domination!
    ~ Raz L. Nicks, Neon Starz (1996)
